I have a friend's old phone that can get into download mode and recovery. It will try to boot, but gets stuck at the Samsung screen that sorta flashes. If we go into recovery (factory recovery) it will show an error saying it can't mount the /data partition.
I've tried using Odin to flash "T999UVALEM_T999TMBALEM_T999UVALEM_HOME.tar" and found a one click "(UNROOT)T999UVDLJA_T999TMBDLJA_T999UVDLJA_1"
I'm not sure what version the software the phone was on and even if that's the problem. I have read that you can't flash older versions past certain points.
I haven't tried to force feed a custom recovery yet. I'm thinking that might be a good idea.
