Bad performance for Video and photo. topic

My phone:
Samsung s advanced
Android 4.1.2
I9070xxlqe
Kernel 3.0.31-1122398

I often have bad performance when seeing video or trying to make a photo/video, I'd like to try and increase performance,
1 Does a kernel update is a good idea?
2 if yes which kernel should i use?
