I don't know how long this will stay up but if you're needing old versions of the updaters for testing purposes Android File Hosting has a demo site that still has links to old copies of the gapps. I googled a name of an older version of one of the packages and and stumbled across it.

Where can buy a Galaxy S6 with unlocked bootloader and no service plan? Yes I realize thats 0-0 based on model and yes that is within my budget.
Monthly payments preferred, but I can also do cash up front.

To elaborate on thread title's question. Searching newpower99's site I do not see batteries for Nook HD. However searching 'nook HD battery' on Google pointsto newpower99's page that the site itself says isn't there.

Checkout points to it being a valid product (can't buy right at this minute.) Anyone know what's going on?

Hi,
Currently i am struck at a situation where i need to do a fresh install of complete rom. The problem is as below
I own lenovo A6000 which is new in indian market with firmware kraft-A6000. I was frustated with the custom vibe ui given by lenovo and i started to install custom rom. So i booted temporarily into CWM and installed some other lenovo ROM which resulted in disaster. I have restored it back by using the backup taken using CWM. This restoration lead to complete failure of the phones signal reception. I mean literally cell is not able to register to network and catch any signals. So i got little bit frustated and booted into CWM temporarly using ADB and Fastboot and formated system files. (/system). I was aware that it will compelete wipe up the system but one thing which i was not aware that time was i haven't flashed the custom recovery over stock one. So now i am stuck at a point where i cannot install custom ROM zip through stock recovery since signatures and firmware mismatches are happening. I cannot fastboot the phone using debug mode as my stock rom is wiped off completely and my device is unauthorised when i listed it with "adb devices" command. So I came to the conclusion that i need install the stock rom zip using the stock recovery. When i googled for it, i could not find it available and got git-hub link for the same firmware code. So i am hoping to rebuild it into zip and install it using stock recovery.

After good effort of search, i am still left with questions as well as confusions.
1. Is there any way to make my device autherised and make signature check OFF using adb commands so that i can install custom rom -- my guess is probably no, but please confirm
2. I some how got the code of Kraft-A6000 ROM from git-hub and from lenovo site. I would like to know the steps (or any links if already posted) on how to make a zip out of it using linux shell or using eclipse without installing android sdk studio. (i am a bit skeptical as i saw in some of the xda forums stating the code is not building properly as it is missing some files but just wanted to give it a try myself)
3. If any pre-loading methods exist that factories use to install android for first time please suggest.

My last option is to go for a lenovo service center and check with them if they can get it back working but i really want to give it a complete try before going to them.

Note: i am not a core linux user and to my knowledge i tried my level best to resolve the issue myself. Please do also let me know if any extra information is needed. Any help on this is highly appreciated.

A painful experience - see below - taught me that a NANDROID backup isn't enough.
I had to find a PIT file, a bootloader and a modem.
What else does one need to be able to get back to an earlier version, and is there some software to do that
automatically?

I've tried an Android-5.0 for which I had to flash the boot loader and the modem, as well.
The Android-5.0 system booted well but it turnt out that I got insurmountable difficulties with WLAN
authentication. Therefore I wanted to go back to Kitkat (4.4.2) which I had backed up by TWRP.
I could restore the system but got a boot loop - no wiping helped.
Then I tried to install a stock 4.4.2 system but ODIN-3.09 has stalled for more than an hour such that I had
to kill it. Now my device was broken. Luckily I did find a suitable PIT file, boot loader and modem.
Even then ODIN didn't succeed. With the help of Philz-Touch-Recover I could reformat some partitions.
Only after that ODIN succeeded - together with the PIT file - to flash the bootloader and the modem,
Only now, I could boot into the old version.

Many thanks for a hint,
Helmut.

Hey everyone!
I'm currently thinking about rooting my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 but I have some reservations because of some features and essential applications that I may lose.
Specifically, the task manager that can force quit all programs is essential to me and the stock camera that utilizes the full potential of the Note 4's camera is absolutely terrific. I don't really care for much of the S Pen features that might go array because I can easily download a third party note taking application. As long as I have the essential Google applications, I don't really need much more.
However, I would really like to know what other applications you can recommend that would make a good replacement for the camera, the task manager, IR blaster, etc.
Any other suggestions to make my experience all that better would be awesome! Thank you so much!

Hello there everybody!

I just recently bought an ASUS ZE551ML 4GB from Taiwan. I came across some small software bugs (that may be fixed in a later version), but what I found pretty "nasty" is a weird interruption of the Cellular Data Connection. The phone uses the new 2.12.40.11 software version (no updates made) & runs inside Europe. Did anyone else come across this issue?

Thanks!
Miron :)

Hello everyone!

My phone got stucked on boot animation when in just rebooted my phone (i really didn't do anything).
I already have tried (A): Flashing a custom recovery and then a rom from there; and (B) a Factory Image with the procedure 1 and 2 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goog...image-t2513701
I tried to flash KitKat and Lollipop images with both methods and all the roms do the same (Stuck on Boot Animation: Flying dots). Nothing seems to work. I'm really stuck on it. :crying:

My phone is a Nexus 5 Hammerhead D820(H) Baseband M897A-2.0.50.2.25
PD: The power buttons is OK

Edit: When i was writing this, i 'magically' solved it.
1. With my Phone plugged into the pc in Fastboot mode, i made a 'Factory reset'
with the next adb commands:
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
2. Then i flashed the Kitkat image.
3. It Works! :D

Hope it would be useful

My brothers Galaxy Nexus crashed two days ago and rebooted. Since than whenever you boot it again, it boots normally but after about 10 seconds crashes and reboots again. No matter if you unlock it, SIM installed or not, with external power or not makes no difference. Always keeps crashing and rebooting. So the first thing I did was a factory reset within the bootloader. When it restarted nothing was wiped. Wallpaper, unlock code and all apps were still there.
Weird.
So I decided to flash the the whole stock image again. Downloaded the latest version from Google and flashed it. Took a fairly long time (30 minutes), but had no errors or irregularities and had the same result as the factory reset -> nothing. Everything is still there.

How can this even be? The only thing I could imagine is a broke storage. Is this a possibility?

Thanks in advance

Hello XDA,

I just wanted to know if it would be possible to obtain a plan where I would only be getting data from AT&T for my note 4 and not any sms or calling capabilities. This would be of use to me and many others because I already use google voice to make calls and sms which is free and only requires internet. So buy buying only an internet plan, I could still message and make calls just fine through google voice.

I went back to my GS3, can't seem to find a current phone that suits me right now. I had planned on preordering the S6, but I want to wait it out.

I depend on my GS3 as my daily phone and need a ROM suggestion on 4.4.2 (NE1) that's as smooth and lag-free as possible, good on battery life is also a plus.

And speaking of battery, I was either going to get a battery case like the Mophie or go with an extended battery, nothing huge like 7200 mAh.

Any suggestions on these?

This is fot all the people who just bought the m9 to find HTC Sense TV missing and a horrendous app(my opinion , i do not intend to cause a riot.) , Peel Smart TV has taken its place, this is for you , NO more complaining !

METHOD A: (if tv app is not visible in playstore)

download this app (original unmodified, untampered ) TV.apk from the attachment section. (then update it via playstore)

METHOD A: (if tv app is visible in playstore)

Hi guys, I'm searching for a rom which works great with games, any ideas?

xda-developers

Why not more development for this line? There is like 3 ROMs and 1 Kernel. Apps section is a ghost town as well. Really surprised at the lack of overall involvement, from devs and user alike. Exynos related? Too many variants? Or just too many tablets being released...idk

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I'm from Argentina and I'll be in USA in a few days.
Can someone tell me what are the bands supported in the S6 Edge AT&T version?

My carrier in Argentina uses LTE Band 4 AWS. And I think the only US carrier that uses that band is AT&T.

Thanks!

PS: Sorry for my english

I have obtained a Sprint s4 mini. From what I can find, the current kernel is SE secure enforcing.

The exact build number is KOT49H.L520_4.4.2_0016
Build date is Oct 7 2014

I am not new here, I know that all known root methods are now bust. What other options are there?
Searching seems to be pretty difficult for this device. All searches for bootloader and recovery come up for the i9190 / i9195

If I use Kies or Odin to flash a previous recovery image, will that brick the device? Also in the settings, it says Secure Boot Status - Type: Samsung
Guess that is referring to the Knox enforcing
The particular image I had in mind to flash with Odin is SPR-L520VPUAMK2-20131115204826
Will it work? Or am I screwed?

Hi all, I have a tricky problem, I converted my M7 to GPE following this thread "[RUU] Google Edition Conversion. 5.0.1 RUU Zip pre-rooted/non-rooted + firmware ". All went fine but in the end the GPE lacks some stuff that I really like on Stock. Long story short I wanted to go back to stock, so I followed the part in the thread refffering to GPE => Stock

Quote:

Prerequsites:
S-off
1.44 HBoot
RUU for your device (I used )

Ok I thought reversing since I had S-off would be a simple affair and maybe I took a misstep along the way but I got it done.
Here's what worked FOR ME.

1) set CID to superCID
2) install the 1.44 Hboot in RUU mode (thanks SneakyGhost) http://d-h.st/qfc
3) install the RUU for your phone/carrier

I just forgot before the last fastboot reboot to change the CID from 11111111 to my cid.
I flashed the 7.19.401.2-FULL_STOCK_WIPE.zip using 1.44 Hboot. Now it is stuck at the HTC logo afterwards and keeps rebooting, and ends up in stock recovery the phone with the red triangle and exclamation sign.
I did a factory reset from fastboot and now i get the phone with the red triangle. which means it is in the stock recovery but something is wrong. I can manage it to put it in fastboot, but that is all.
Windows each time I connect the phone is no longer recognizing the device so adb fails (I assume because it is the wrong CID). It just says waiting for device and nothing happens further.
How do I change the CID if I cannot connect the device? Tricky ... I tried several adb drivers (I use win 8.1) like "minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.2_setup" and "Universal_Naked_Driver_0.72" . The best I got is a driver installed and showing in device manager but with message "Universal_Naked_Driver_0.72".

Any help is really appreciated.

Best regards

Hi guys... I've been using the LGOG E975 for years now , currently I'm running ARTMOD V7 rom on it using the stock kernel.. The only thing that it lacks is lack if storage..

I'll be very grateful if someone could point out the kernels that'll support USB OTG ( of course with the USB Y OTG ) On ARTMOD V7 .. I've used the AK xGenesis gee , and was able to mount external storage using Stick mount.. But it had a lotta bugs like screen brightness was too high even on 0 , glitches etc etc or maybe it justdidn't support the artmod v7..

So i just want you too point out all the kernels that support otg hack on this rom.. Or if there's an alternative then let me know it..
Thanks

Our daughter deleted all of the pics on my wife's phone. She tried to use Dr. Fone, but someone told us that it failed because her phone wasn't rooted. So I tried to root it from this post on cnet:

It failed during the root. Now it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. Which I tried and also failed.

After a lot of heart ache and hours working on it, i have what a friend told me was the right tar file. I have attached the error in Odin.

Hi,

I am on Chroma ROM and I just downloaded the Playstation app from Play Store, but everytime I open this app, it crashes immediately. Before this I am on Optistock, but there was the same problem. Somebody said that it caused by optimization flags (e.g. -O3 and graphite), and for example on Catalysm, PS app works perfectly.

Is it possible? And are there any solution for this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

the title says is pretty much:
Before Lollipop it was possible to move (the /system part, especially) the dalvik-cache to the cache partition via build.prop setting.

dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only=0

This moved the system-dalvik to cache while the user-apps part was still at the /data partition. For me this does not seem to work in CM12(.1) anymore. Is the setting renamed?

i've partitioned my sdcard to fat32(6gb) and ext2(2gb) using aparted. after installing, link2sd, error says, "mount script can not be created. no such device. mount: no such device". i repartition my sdcard using mini partition wizard and set both partition to primary using the same file system as stated earlier, but still the error occur. i tried to manually create mount file /etc/init.d/11link2sd, then change then chmod to 777 using terminal emulator(busy box is installed).

11link2sd contains:

mount -t ext2 -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /data/sdext2
(i also tried to execute it this command in terminal emulator, but it says, device does not exist). /data/sdext2 folder exist.

other 11link2sd scripts that i have tried also doesn't work.
-------------------------------------------------
#!/system/bin/sh
#added by link2sd
LOG=/data/link2sd-11link2sd.log
echo "$(date) mounting..." > $LOG

# Leave out "/external_sd" if you are using your internal SD card.
# And check the path, it may be different for your ROM.
mount -o bind /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /data/sdext2 1>>$LOG 2>>$LOG

mount >> $LOG
echo "$(date) mount finished" >> $LOG

int.d folder is not present so i created it manually(as stated in some post).
i also installed Smanager to run the script at boot.

when i do cat /proc/partitions, it shows that mmcblk1p2(2nd partition of sdcard).

a youtube video says that converting link2sd to system app will fix the problem, however i can not convert link2sd to system app. (i removed some system apps to free up space).

device: rooted myphone uno (android 5.1 lollipop).

thanks.

I've noticed quite a few aosp based Roms for d855 that are not for d851. Is it possible to use them if we flashed a d851 kernel right after? Or is there more to it then that? Since hardware is basicly the same would it work?

After a day the phone had no signal. i tried all things cleaning sim removing rebooting etc. The same sim works fine on other phones. The phone is factory unlocked and used to be locked on sprint. It keeps on asking for activation though after avoiding it goes away. Whenever i put the sim in , in cdma only or lte/cdma mode. It shows no sim. and when i use gsm/utms only it says invalid sim contact customer service. I have shifted to asia. Help

My N3 suddenly not detecting qny SIM on Dr.Ketans super Lollipop ROM While I enjoyed using it for couple of months already without any problems this is like an unexpected shocker. I tried the following without any luck.:

# Signal detects normally for a minute after a cold reboot. I can even make calls until a minute and then SIM fails with a big crossed circle on the signal and it's the same with any SIM I try.

# Hot boot, Safemode, Wipe cache from recovery doesn't work.

# Hot boot, Safe mood, Recovery cache wipe not works

# Removing SD card, Toggling radios nothing works.

Should I try flashing the ROM over this to see if it can recover on the modem or do you see its a hardware issue? But why it works for a minute on restart????

I'm using the Samsung keyboard on my Note 4 with two languages enabled (English and German)

Sadly the autocorrect and word learning seems to unified which means that when I write in English (with the English language selected on the space bar ) I still get many german word offered by autocorrect.
Also learnt words seem to be stored in only one dictionary; not a pet-language one

But many words are similar (in terms of swiping path etc) between the two languages so that autocorrect's offerings are often useless. (Bettet instead of better)

The same applies for the handwriting input as that seems to be part of the same keyboard implementation. ..

I'd like it much better if it only used the selected language for word suggestions and kept separate dictionaries for leant words. .I can live with having to store some entries (like names etc) twice if I must

So is there a way to accomplish that?

Or is there a replacement keyboard that works as well with handwriting and swiping but which has separate dictionaries etc?

Hello all, I am here with a super list of boot animations. I collected the gif images from internet & made a collection of boot animations. Some boot animations are also collected from various sources. All are tested & working fine on my Micromax Canvas A1 (android one 480x854). Please post here or PM me to let me know if anything is not working and I'll get to it ASAP! Feel free to see if these work on other Device’s and at your Own Risk. This took a VERY LONG time to create or collect these, so I hope you all enjoy it!

"Thanks" is optional of course, but always appreciated!

instructions:
extract-> go to extracted folder-> cut & paste-> system/media-> change permissions to rw-r-r (see screenshot below) Reboot and Enjoy!

WinDirBkUp-WinPE is intended to be run on Windows 8.x / Windows 10.x machines!

WinDirBkUp-WinPE is a workbench I initially created for myself to store a backup of <drive>\Windows folder into a Windows PE that will restore <drive>\Windows folder at PC's boot time.

The package includes components provided by Microsoft with their "Windows Kits" for Windows 8.1, especially the "Assessment and Deployment Kit".

Since the backup made is exactly the mirrored copy of the <drive>\Windows folder and thus contains the configuration of the Windows OS, after restoring the computer from that backup image, the computer comes back to the state at which the WinPE image was created.

Hi
I was looking for a way to unlock the phone for free and I found one over here
http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/37...print-for-gsm/

Quote:

Requirements:

1. This tutorial is independent of Android version whether it may be 4.4.2 or 4.4.3. Works on both stock and sense based custom ROM's. (Not tested on AOKP ROM's.). Works on both s-off and s-on devices.

2. You need to be rooted and bootloader needs to be unlocked. Here are the links that would show you how to do it.

http://theunlockr.co...t-method-video/ '> http://theunlockr.co...t-method-video/

Or

http://htconeroot.co...oot-htc-one-m8/

3. Once you are rooted download the following zip file and copy it to the internal memory of your m8.

https://www.dropbox....UNLOCK.zip?dl=0 '> https://www.dropbox....UNLOCK.zip?dl=0

4. Download and install Terminal from play store.

5. Switch off the handset and boot to fastest.(By holding volume down and power button together ).

6. Once you are on fastboot screen navigate to recovery using volume buttons and press power button to boot to recovery.

7. One you are in recovery click on install (I'm presuming you installed twrp recovery, if not then do it according to that recovery). Now locate SIM_UNLOCK. zip and flash it. Reboot system after successful flash.

8. On Reboot:eek:pen the Terminal Emulator from the app drawer

9. Type - su

10. Hit enter on your keyboard

11. After you see the # type this- am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity

12. Hit the enter key

13. Next you should see a menu listing 3 options as follows:
GUI
API
ROAMING OPTIONS

14. Select API

15. Once the API menu comes up, scroll down until you see - sim lock

16. Tap- sim lock. Wait until the gray highlight goes away and turns black again

17. Reboot and you are done.

18. If you see you that you have no network then dial *#*#4636#*#*. A menu will pop up. Select phone information then scroll down until you see 'select preferred network type'.
Change it to WCDMA preferred and that is. Now your network should pop-up.

This is permanent unlock and you can update your Android version in future.

After this I got an error : VDM Client has stopped unexpectedly
So to fix this I installed Insertcoin kitkat rom and it worked
You can try other roms like badBoyz or ViperOne

Hi all.. Quick question.

I've just started the process of trying to root my One Max (international) and everything has gone smoothly with unlocking the bootloader etc, and i've flashed a CWM image to it as my recovery, but once i've rebooted, volume down and select recovery, hit power, it says entering recovery but then screen goes off, waits about 20-30 seconds and boots up as normal.. Is the CWM image file wrong? And if so, can i just redo the process of flashing the rom again the same way, or do i need to uninstall this image before i can? Does any new image not just overwrite?

I'm just a little frustrated at this point because it's now unlocked and tampered yet i have no root access.

Please try it out, write a review, provide feedback, etc. This is my first dev project outside of work crap. It's a simple enough concept: classic block breaker game, but the paddle and physics are replaced b pinball flippers and real world physics (realistic gravity).

If you are on a 7 or 10 inch tablet, and could possibly provide me with some screen shots so I can see how it translates to a larger display, that would be SWEEEEEET.

I'm pretty proud of this, hope you folks like it.

Hello XDA,

Today I'm going to show you how to work with/convert the .pkm and .atc image files that are included in system apks on recent devices. It's been about a month since I've looked into these formats, so if anybody has since come up with any better/alternative methods, please share them here.

Let's begin...

.pkm
.pkm files are actually a type of ETC1_RGB8 textures. The reason manufacturers are starting to use them, is because they are fully supported by Android, and with the OpenGL ES platform that Android runs, they offer significant overhead savings vs conventional image formats. A lot of people (devs included) probably haven't realized it, but there is actually a tool that comes bundled with the Android SDK for creating .pkm textures. It's called etc1tool, and is a command line utility. Etc1tool is capable itself of converting .pkm files to .png, but unfortunately all the ones I've come across in pre-existing apks are not able to be converted this way. That would be too easy, right? So, here's what we do instead:

-First, you're going to need to download and install Mali GPU Texture Compression Tool from HERE.

-Once you've got it all set up, open it up, go to File > Open, and open up a .pkm file (or several, as it can do batch processing).

-Now, click on the .pkm file you just opened, in the left-hand pane to select it. You should see the image.

-Next, click on the yellow icon towards the upper right of the screen.

-In the window that pops up, copy the settings I have here. You can change the directory (it's only going to store a temp file anyway), but everything else must match.

-Click OK, let it do its' thing, and you should see a screen similar to this:

-Now, you're going to click on your image(s) in the left-hand pane to select them again, then click on the blue save icon towards the upper right.

-Save them to whatever directory, and with whatever extension you'd like (most likely .png). Now, the standard ETC1 format doesn't handle alpha values, and the existing .pkms seem to have been encoded using some proprietary method that preserves the alpha channel. When you save your image from Mali, it will not save the alpha values, despite the preview having them. As a result, your .png will have a black background, similar to this:

From here, though, you at least have a standard .png image, which you can then open with Photoshop or Gimp and easily remove the black background.

-If for some reason you'd like to create your own .pkm file(s) from existing images, navigate in command prompt to the your Android SDK > Tools directory, then use the following:

Code:

etc1tool pathtoinputfile.png --encode -o pathtooutputfile.pkm

.atc
.atc files aren't going to be as common as .pkm, as they are a proprietary format and can only be used on device with a Qualcomm Adreno chipset. Just like .pkm files, they offer significant gains in overhead performance compared to standard image formats, but they are a pain when you're trying to theme an app that's full of them. Let's begin...

-Start off by downloading the ASTC Evaluation Codec found HERE. This one is going to be a zip, rather than an installable program, so download it and extract it wherever you wish. Once extracted, find the location of 'astcenc' (the folder names are odd, and differ depending on your OS).

-Once you've located it, open up command prompt, and navigate to that folder.

-Like etc1tool, the ASTC Codec is capable of converting directly to .png, but also like the .pkm files, it doesn't work in this case. You can try, but the result will be unusable, so don't waste your time. Instead, we're going to convert to .tga.

-So, in command prompt, use the following to decode the .atc to a more usable .tga:

Code:

astcenc -d pathtoinputfile.atc pathtooutputfile.tga

-Unlike .pkm files and Mali, this will preserve any existing transparency, but there's a catch (there's always a catch). The resulting .tga file will be upside down.

-Fortunately, this is nothing more than a minor inconvenience lol. So, once you have your .tga file, open it up in Photoshop or Gimp, flip it, and save as .png, and you should be all set.

-If for some reason you wanted to create a new .atc file, the codec can be used for that as well. I forget the command, and documentation is very hard to find, but if you use the following, you should be able to go from there:

Code:

astcenc -help

Be aware, that there is absolutely no need to recreate any of these special formats. You can simply delete the originals and replace them with .png files of the same name, and they'll work just fine in any apk, and then you won't have to worry about it in the future. Anyway, I hope some of you learned something and find this useful....

What is this?

This is zip of stock lollipop(5.1) of the google play edition. It has only system, boot.img so there is no risk of bricking.
It means ur bootloader won't be upgraded

Why should I install this?

If u want to get the best experience of lollipop aka nexus experience.
5.0.2 was a failure and everyone know it.
This zip is 5.1 and its so smooth that you will die.
Additionally I won;t upgrade your bootloader sp there is no risk of bricks nad u can flash your stock firmware like a boss

Will this work in my device?

This zip will not work on XT1033 so If there is any XT1033 user reading this, thank you for reading upto here and now u can go back and search for custom roms.
This should probably work on XT1032.

I loved this ROM what do u want in return?

-I don't want money
-I don't want thanks also (just kidding)
-U can't give what I want
-Thank you for asking

FEATURES
