I'm not a screen protector salesman, nor do I have stock in one. This worked for me, but your milage may vary.
I updated to 5.1 yesterday and since then, every single time I made a call my screen would go black and become unresponsive. When the person at the other end hung up, it would eventually come back. I figured it was the rom and/or kernel. I tried as many rom, kernels and combinations as I could and nothing. I eventually found a thread sharing that the sensor became more sensitive in the upgrade and even if you never had an issue in 5.0, your screen protector is probably the issue. I thought no way, I paid like , really liked the protection and it never caused an issue, it was a tempered glass protector and clear as day, but I was desperate.
The second I took it off and pressed enter on a call, no black screen. I could actually make a call, cover the sensor with my protector and the screen went black.
I know it sucks, i really didn't want to change my protector, but I could not use the phone the way it was.
