I've got a Nexus 6 running on 5.01 Build LRX22C. I've been trying to write an app using the accelerometer to detect high G forces, but the max range I get back on my phone when I query the sensor is 19.613287 m/s^2 which is roughly 2 Gs. The Invosense accelerometer in the Nexus 6 should be able to report up to 16 Gs. I have done some digging around and it seems like this might be a software cap put on the accelerometer and it looks like it's common to most Android phones, being capped at 2 to 4 Gs.
My question is, is there any way to adjust this cap upwards without having to use a custom ROM?
