For a while now, my AT&T HTC One ( M8 ) has had a loose charging port. However, it is only recently that it has become a problem, rarely being able to maintain a consistent connection to charger and almost never being able to hold any sort of data connection to my computer. I've tried at least five different micro USB cables. I'd like to return the phone to AT&T under my warranty, but I'm not too fond of returning a device that has been tampered with. I've heard reports that AT&T simply doesn't care about rooted or otherwise screwed with phones, but I'd rather not take the chance, if I'm honest. It is for this reason that I want to boot a stock recovery backup image onto my phone.
I'm currently using the "GOOGL001" CID, as I am running a Google Play Edition 5.1 ROM. I need a different CID number than this to boot the stock backup image. This wouldn't be a problem if I could actually connect to any computer to change my CID number via adb.
Is there any way to alter my phone's CID number without a provided data connection to a computer?
